Mark is a Senior European Patent Attorney and UK Chartered Patent Attorney with over ten years’ experience of patent drafting, prosecution, portfolio management, dispute resolution, innovation harvesting and strategic commercial advice.

After training with a large IP firm in London providing IP services to wide range of clients from startups to global entities, Mark then moved in-house for a leading multi-national group in the field of imaging, software and printing, including providing commercially focused support to many group subsidiary companies. His workload included protecting software innovation, such as optical character recognition, network video surveillance and market leading printing technology.

This was followed by a senior advisory role in an early-stage, rapid growth electric vehicle company which grew from start-up to multi-billion-pound listed entity. This included drafting and prosecution of patent applications in the field of electric vehicles and automotive components. He supported innovation in a diverse range of technical fields, such as electronics architecture, battery technology, material science, thermal management, and autonomous vehicle software.

Mark holds a PhD in atomic physics from Durham University and before entering the IP profession worked as a post-doctoral researcher at Seoul National University in South Korea, completing a research project in the field of quantum computing, as well as teaching undergraduate and graduate physics students.
