Joeeta Murphy heads up the Life Sciences Team at ip21 and brings with her over 30 years of experience in Life Sciences, Pharma and Med Tech patent matters. Joeeta has extensive experience in patent drafting, prosecution, EPO Oppositions and Appeals in significant cases as well as providing freedom to operate analysis, licensing support, litigation support, due diligence in M&As and strategic IP Portfolio management.

Having both in-house and private practice experience, Joeeta’s clients have ranged from start-ups, SME’s, Universities andmultinationals, providing valuable strategic commercial advice on extracting value from innovations and IP.  

Joeeta is a qualified European and UK Patent Attorney and is also a representative at the Unified Patent Court. Joeeta has a BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences, MPhil in Pharmaceutical Sciences, specifically on antibiotic biosynthesis, MSc in Intellectual Property Management and the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) Litigation Certificate.

Joeeta is a member of Council at CIPA and has been recognised by her clients for her contribution to IP and is listed in the internationally recognised directory IAM Strategy 300 of World leading IP Strategists for three years running. Joeeta has been a panellist with UK IP Judges at conferences and has presented at various national and international events. Prior to joining the profession, Joeeta was a research scientist working on vaccines, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s disease.
