Two EU agencies take a stand against domain name abuse

41 eu domains

The EU IPO and EURid have launched a notification service to enable EU trade mark applicants the ability to take action against cybersquatters and domain names registered in bad faith.

Once an EU trade mark application is published, it is vulnerable to being registered as a domain name by third parties. However, as of 18th May 2019 rights holders and applicants can opt-in to receive alerts if/when a .eu or .ею domain name identical to their EU trademark is registered. This allows them to take the necessary action much faster than if they had to monitor the domain name registers themselves.

If you are the applicant or holder of an EU trade mark and would like more information about how to opt-in to receive such notifications, please contact Keeley Williams or your usual ip21 attorney on 01603 457008.
