Principal Attorney

Bill is a Chartered Patent Attorney, a European Patent Attorney, an IPReg-accredited Intellectual Property Litigator and a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney with over 40 years' qualified experience in the patent and trademark profession.

He is primarily responsible for the strategic management of ip21, including firm-wide service delivery and client relationship management, and he focuses his current professional workload on high-level conflicts, dispute resolution, IP valuation, licensing, and strategic IP consultancy.

He has lectured in Intellectual Property Law on the CIPA/TMPDF Core Skills course for Trainee Patent Attorneys and he is Chairman of the CIPA Textbook and Publications Committee, Chairman of the New Anglia Capital Board and a Member of the MedTech Accelerator Board. 

He has served on the Council of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA), he is the continuing joint editor of the CIPA/CITMA Community Designs Handbook, and he is a former Chairman of Business Link Norfolk.

Bill founded ip21 with John Williams in 2000 after successfully starting and running his own practice in Norwich and York, which he sold in 1997 to a pan-European IP group.
